    Jerome Bertrand designer

“For many UX designers, bridging their daily practice over to data-driven design discovery and delivery can be a a great challenge. This course acts like this perfect, solid bridge. It's very compact, full of stuff and good personal guidance to reach the other side. It gave me the tooling and insights about data-driven product design experiments I can actually use in any design process and with more, real confidence data provides. Particularly appreciated the jump from setting a big idea experiment to analysis and planning next steps!”

Hi, I’m Jeff! I love designing learning experiences where people explore new concepts. I’ve worked as a UX, UI, and product designer at startups for over ten years. I helped thousands of UX/UI designers break into the design field in my time as Head of Design of CareerFoundry. This program is based on the latest approaches in quantitative research and will help designers get more innovative with their product design work.

         Frequently asked questions

        • If you’ve never worked in design, this course is not for you. This course is meant to get you a promotion in design, not your first design job. We design our courses for mid-career UX and Product Designers. We assume you know the basic UX/UI skills taught at universities and bootcamps.

        • We’ll do everything we can to ensure you have a good learning experience. Each course comes with two dedicated coaches who can answer questions in class directly. After class, the coaches are available via Slack. If you need 1-on-1 help from a coach during the course, sign up for the premium seat, which includes 3 Course Calls and 3 Coaching Calls after the course. If you get into the first class and feel like the learning experience isn’t for you, let us know, and we’ll try to provide extra tutoring. You can read our refund policy here.

        • Our classes are just like an in-person design workshop. We will have group discussions, Miro activities, 1-on-1 feedback, great tunes, interactive media, energizers, and lots of laughs. We think that our live classes are better than most in-person design courses. We use real-time tools like Butter, Miro, Slack, and Notion to make things as interactive as possible. We usually run a preview workshop for free before the course, so sign up to our newsletter if you want to get notified about the next LIVE class.

        • We don’t believe that adult education should include any fluff or filler. This is a very intense course. Every interaction in the course is packed with purpose. Our courses are live and workshop-based courses, so we’re able to squeeze the learning into half the time of a 6-week, video-based course. The videos, frameworks, and templates remain yours to review after class. Our class schedule is intense, and we think that a 3-week sprint is the easiest timeframe to commit to for busy working designers.

        • There are so many problems and opportunities for improvement at companies that we think it’s a shame to work on hypothetical class prompts in adult education. We encourage you to work on real-world challenges inspired or directly related to your day-to-day design work. We will guide you in selecting projects in the first week of class. You don’t need to worry about that before the course.

        • Since 90% of the work happens in class, we highly recommend attending all classes. You’re an adult, so your attendance and assignments are entirely up to you. Students who miss classes tend to disengage from the community and slowly disappear. We don’t want that to happen, so we ask you to attend the classes. We’ll take care of the rest!

        • First of all, we prioritize interaction over lectures. We used a variety of activities, breakout rooms, games, and tools like Miro, Butter + some green screen magic to keep you as engaged as possible. We don’t use Zoom for class so you will get to try something new. We switch up the pace every 10 minutes so that you never get bored. Zoom calls are exhausting, but our courses are not. All we ask is that you show up, engage in the class, and we promise you’ll have no problems paying attention. Many of our students comment that two hours of class time goes by too fast.

        • We are a bootstrapped education startup operating at maximum efficiency without venture backing. We recommend getting your company to pay for this course. The majority of our students are company-funded.

        • Most of our students fund their course with their company education budget. The advanced methods that we teach come from top product organizations like Airbnb, Netflix, and Google. The benefits of these skills will directly improve your company’s bottom line. The admission fee is a small price for the innovation this course will bring to your company. Learning advanced product design skills and building a lifelong design community might help you out, too ;) Learn how to ask for budget here

        • We can accommodate group seats for companies. Reach out to hello@thefountaininstitute.com for payment details. We’ll be offering new course packages soon so stay tuned!

        • Absolutely! You will get a credit card receipt from Stripe or Disco, our payment platforms, immediately after payment. If you require a full invoice, fill out this form to receive a complete invoice.

        • Yes, many companies prefer to pay this way. Fill out this form, and we will send you an invoice that you can pay with a bank transfer.

        • We record the workshops, and we will upload those recordings to your course dashboard. You will retain access to those videos and other reference material even after the course is over.

        • We recommend that you have a fast internet connection and a computer that can handle Butter and Miro simultaneously for all classes. If you have an external monitor, it might help as well. There isn’t any pre-work. Just show up to class, and we’ll handle the rest.
