How Miro’s Research Team Explored Hybrid Work with Eduardo Gomez

How Miro’s Research Team Explored Hybrid Work

A “new normal” fall shorts to describe the new ways of working post COVID-19 pandemic. How is this global phenomenon affecting the way we collaborate? What are the main challenges knowledge workers face? What environment and devices support their collaboration when part of the team is at the office and working from home?

With these in mind, Miro’s research team conducted a mixed methods research program to understand the current status of hybrid meetings, the needs, pains, and users' expectations, and co-created the future of hybrid work by bringing together Miro executives with their users. This research informed new company goals and shaped our business strategy.

This talk will share how the Miro Research team kick-started and led this strategic initiative across multiple cross-functional teams. Eduardo Gomez, UX Research Manager at Miro, will walk through their detailed research design and methods, which include desk research, a survey, participatory observations, interviews, and a co-creation workshop. In addition, he will share how they engaged not only cross-functional teams but also Miro executives and how they socialized the findings to help shape the company strategy.

They hope this case study will help researchers learn how to adopt a mixed methods research approach and kickstart research-led initiatives to challenge the status quo and drive impact through the findings.
